Steven was diagnosed, at the age of one, with cancer in one of his eyes. He was taken to Philadelphia to have the eye removed. He received a glass eye, which he promptly fed to his dog. It has since been replaced and he is doing well.

Every Penny Counts - Internet Search

Hello from GoodSearch,

We're excited to welcome Hometown Heroes of Union County - HTH to GoodSearch and GoodShop! More than 75,000 nonprofits and schools are now participating in our program and 100 new organizations are joining daily! Your organization is up and running on our two sites:

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!
  • GoodSearch.com - The search engine with a unique social mission. It's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great search results, and each time you search, GoodSearch makes a donation to your cause!
  • GoodShop.com - The new online marketplace that donates a percentage of your purchase to the nonprofit or school of your choice. You can choose from hundreds of popular merchants and the experience of shopping through GoodShop is exactly the same as going to the retailer's websites directly.

Please help us spread the word! In today's economy, every penny counts!

HTH Facebook Cause Fundraiser

With social networking taking internet marketing by storm we created a Hometown Heroes Facebook Cause. Our first goal was to recruit 500 members to raise awareness of our charity. The goal was reached 5/5/09. The top recruiter for this effort was Lori Pierce. Many thanks to Lori as our goal for members has grown to far exceed our expectations as we continue to grow daily.

Currently, Hometown Heroes has more little hero families than ever before in need of financial assistance. So for our facebook members, we have started a FB fundraiser and if each one of our members donates $10, we will have almost $7000 to aid in our mission; however, our initial goal is $1,000 by August 1st, 2009.

Hometown Heroes relies on the generosity of our community partners, volunteers and individual donations to help us provide financial assistance to our families. As always, we appreciate all you heroes out there that make our organization what it is today!
